Allen & Denise Alexander

Allen Alexander and his wife, Denise, recently returned from serving as mission president for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in North Carolina. Prior to his church service, Allen was elected Chairman of the Board for Savage Services in 2005. The company provides supply chain solutions in the areas of transportation systems, materials handling, rail solutions, facilities management and related logistics services. He was appointed Chief Executive Officer in 1995, and President of the company in 1987. Allen joined Savage Services in 1978. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a master’s degree in organizational communications and management development.

Denise Alexander is currently serving at the Provo MTC. She graduated from BYU in 1976 with a degree in education and music. She enjoys her 9 children and 28 grandchildren. Allen and Denise love to support the cause of religious freedom.

Elder Wilford W. & Kathleen Andersen

Elder Andersen was recently released as a member of the Second Quorum of the Seventy for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and given emeritus status. Prior to this church assignment, he was managing partner of Andersen Investments. Elder Andersen received a bachelor’s degree in business management in 1973 and his JD in 1976 from Brigham Young University. Previously he and his wife resided in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, where Elder Andersen served as Area President of the Caribbean Area for the LDS Church. He currently works in the Temple Department at Church headquarters. 

Kathleen Andersen graduated from Brigham Young University. She and her husband, Wilford, are the parents of nine children.

Lynn Fechser Anderson

Lynn Fechser Anderson graduated from the Brigham Young University with a major in English. Her first experience in education was teaching Freshman English at BYU while her husband, Gary, finished his undergraduate studies. She later earned an M.A. at San Francisco State University. In 1991, Lynn and Gary founded the EBMRF, a foundation to fund research of the disease that took the lives of two of their children. Their three living children have gifted them with ten grandchildren. Both Lynn and Gary have been for many years committed to the cause of religious freedom and have been privileged to be part of the International Center for Law and Religion Studies. After a beautiful and successful life, including 57 years of marriage to Lynn, Gary passed away May 27, 2017 at age 79, following a long, courageous, and optimistic battle with Lewy Body Disease. Scott & Jesselie Anderson

Scott Anderson is the president and chief executive officer of Zions First National Bank. A native of Salt Lake City, Scott joined Zions Bank in December of 1990. He received a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and economics from Columbia University in New York, and received a master’s degree in economics and international studies from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. Scott is active in community affairs, and is currently serving on a number of business and non-profit boards.

Jesselie Anderson is a member the Utah State Board of Regents and is Co-Chair of Education First. She also had a twelve-year career with Utah’s congressional delegation in Washington, D.C. Jesselie received her bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Utah. She and Scott have three children and five grandchildren.

Brent & Cheri Andrus

Brent Andrus is a 1970 graduate of BYU.  He met his wife, Cheri Guhin, at BYU where she was a cheerleader. Cheri graduated in 1969 in elementary education. She then taught school while Brent finished his undergraduate work. After BYU, the Andruses ventured to Chicago, where Brent attended Northwestern University and received his MBA. He subsequently worked for Procter & Gamble, General Mills, and Marriott Corp. In 1991 he formed his own hotel development and management company. Cheri owned and operated three Curves for Women fitness clubs in Utah. Bill & Ann Atkin

Bill Atkin serves as an Associate General Counsel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and is responsible for the international legal affairs of the LDS Church working closely with four Regional Legal Counsel and 13 Area Legal Counsel. Formerly, Bill was an international partner in the law firm of Baker & McKenzie for almost 18 years. He was the managing partner of Baker & McKenzie offices in Taipei, Taiwan, San Francisco and Palo Alto and Moscow, Russia. He also worked in Baker & McKenzie’s Chicago and Caracas, Venezuela offices. Prior to joining Baker & McKenzie, Bill was a trial attorney with the Civil Division of the US Justice Department from 1976-1979 representing the US Government in the Court of International Trade. Prior to that, he worked as a law clerk to the Honorable David T. Lewis, then Chief Judge of the US Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit (1975-76). Bill received an LL.M. degree from Columbia University School of Law (1979)(with an emphasis on international and comparative law). He graduated magna cum laude with a J.D. from Arizona State University College of Law in 1975 where he served as Editor in Chief of the Arizona State Law Journal. Bill received his B.A. from Brigham Young University in 1972.

Linda L. Bang

Linda Bang and her late husband, David, started their company in 1979. The company is a factory rep organization for major playground and site furnishing companies, selling commercial equipment – from basketball standards and bike racks to stadium bleachers and ramadas. The company covers all of Arizona and California. Dave passed away in 2016 and Linda has continued the company. They have 5 wonderful daughters and 15 grandchildren. Linda and Dave both graduated from BYU.

Gary & Marilyn Baughman

Gary S. Baughman is currently a private investor, having been associated with a number of private equity (and debt) firms over the years. He spent much of his career managing public and private companies including Petmate, Fisher-Price, Tyco Toys, Little Tikes, Evenflo Products, and Stiffel Lamps. He has also served on a variety of public, private, industry, academic, and charitable boards. Throughout his career, Gary has held a number of leadership positions in the Church including Stake President in Western New York and Mission President in Budapest, Hungary. He and Marilyn have been members of the Marriott School’s National Advisory Council (NAC) since 1992.

Marilyn C. Baughman has served with her husband from 2009-2012 as he presided over the Hungary Budapest Mission. She is a member and past chairwoman of the Spouse Organization of the Marriott’s NAC. She has served in a number of school and community organizations. Marilyn is a graduate of Brigham Young University. She and Gary are the parents of four children and twelve grandchildren.

Brent & Bonnie Jean Beesley

Brent Beesley is Chairman and CEO of Heritage Bank, St. George, Utah. He practiced with the Salt Lake City law firm of Ray, Quinney and Nebeker and taught business and real estate law at the University of Utah. Brent was the Director of the Federal Savings and Loan Insurance Corporation, Washington, D.C. He was also the President and CEO of the Farm Credit Corporation of America, Denver, Colorado. He received is JD and MBA from Harvard University, and his BA in Economics from BYU.

Bonnie Jean Beesley is chair of the Utah System of High Education of Regents. She is active in the community, including serving on the board of the Utah Sympohony and Opera. Brent and Bonnie Jean have seven children and reside in Salt Lake City

Christi Belliston

Christi Belliston taught and coordinated an ESL program in the Provo School District for years. She married longtime ICLRS supporter, Angus Belliston, who recently passed away. In her previous marriage, she lived in many locations with her mining engineering husband, while raising her family. Christi attended BYU in Provo and Hawaii, and was born in Prescott, Arizona. She and Angus’ families include seventeen children and more than 75 grandchildren.

Bill & Barbara Benac

Bill Benac is President of Pathway India, an organization devoted to the education, physical, and mental rehabilitation of disadvantaged Indian youth and adults. He also serves various non-profits and boards that focus on the arts, education, mentoring, international affairs and freedoms, and prisoner rehabilitation. Bill previously held positions with global corporations, prviate equity firms, and as an entrepreneur. He has BA and MBA degrees from BYU and is a JD, CMA, and CPA.

Barbara Benac earned her bachelor’s degree in Spanish literature from BYU and Master of Liberal Arts from Southern Methodist University in Dallas. She enjoys road biking, team tennis, boating, and travel. She serves as a bilingual docent at SMU Meadows Museum and at Dallas Museum of Art. She is also a board member of the Orchestra of New Spain.  Barbara and Bill reside in Dallas, Texas; they have nine children and twenty-one grandchildren.

Brian & Rachel Bertha

Brian Bertha received his JD from Harvard, and his MBA from Swiss Business School (IMD). Rachel received her Masters in Education from Santa Clara. She taught in the public schools.

Rachel Bertha received her Masters in Education from Santa Clara, and her Bachelor’s of Education from BYU. She taught in the public schools.

John & Diane Blatter

John Blatter and his wife, Diane, were recently released as mission president of the Washington Tacoma Mission. Prior to his mission, John worked with Goldman Sachs & Co. in private wealth management.

Diane Blatter and her husband, John, have six children. Diane was born in Palo Alto, California.

James F. & Sharman Blood

Jim Blood worked as an attorney in the San Francisco Bay Area for 28 years before moving to Utah. He was an attorney at the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco and at Carr, McClellan, Ingersoll, Thompson & Horn. Jim was also Senior Vice President and General Counsel for FP International. He is curently an individual investor in public stocks. He received a BA in Economics from BYU, an MA in International Affairs and JD from George Washington University.

Sharman Blood recently worked as for the International Center for Law and Religion Studies as a Conference Liaison, assisting in coordinating and organizing conferences for the Center. She previously owned her own bookkeeping business in the San Francisco Bay Area. Sharman earned an MA in Education from Stanford University, and taught high school English and Social Studies to at-risk students. She also worked for the Office of Public Liaison at the White House and as a research assistant for a policy research group in Washington, D.C. She graduated from BYU, where she received her BA in History. Prior to moving to Utah in 2015, she and Jim served as Public Affairs Directors for the San Francisco Stake. Sharman and Jim recently served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Russia.  They are the parents of four children.

Bradley & Ann Botteron

Brad and Ann Botteron’s business, Wachter Inc., designs, installs, and maintains electrical power and network technology in commercial and industrial facilities across the U.S.  They met at BYU, were married in 1980, and live in the Kansas City area. They have 4 children and 6 grandchildren.

Robert & Lonnie Bradley

Bob Bradley currently has a part-time law practice. He also served as the Associate Legal Counsel for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Europe. He has been on the board of Shelter for the Homeless for many years, and has served on the boards of numerous arts organizations. Bob practiced in Durham Jones & Pinegar for 36 years, an was a partner at Van Cott, Bagley, Cornwall & McCarthy. Bob holds a BA in biology from the University of Utah, an MS in Biology from Brigham Young University, a PhD in environmental physiology from Cornell, and a JD from BYU Law School. He taught at Cornell and at Iowa State University for nine year. He is the oldest of 14 children.

Lonnie Bradley is an award-winning film writer and now serves as President of the League of Utah Writers, Millcreek Chapter. She taught for many years in elementary school and in college. Lonnie received her Master’s Degree in Education. She and Bob have seven children and 23 grandchildren.

Joseph and Kimberly Brubaker

Joseph Brubaker assists companies in taking products, services, intellectual property, and businesses globally. With extensive regulatory and litigation experience with governments worldwide, he helps U.S. companies successfully expand internationally and helps foreign companies invest in the U.S. market. He has lived in England, France, Israel, Mongolia, and Russia. In addition to teaching courses on international law, he has practiced law in New York and Washington, D.C., and he currently serves on the Board of the World Trade Center Utah, on the Utah Advisory Committee for the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition, on the Utah District Export Council, and as chair of the Int’l Section of the Utah Bar. He received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Utah, his Juris Doctor from Columbia Law School, and his Master of Laws from Cambridge University.

Kimberly Brubaker is a proud mother of four children. She has worked as a development officer at Children’s Miracle Network in Salt Lake City, worked for Columbia University as its international development officer in New York, and studied the culinary arts at Le Cordone Bleu in Paris. She completed her undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of Utah in Business Marketing and Political Communications.

Mac & Christeena Brubaker

Mac Brubaker is President of Tate Brubaker Real Estate and has developed commercial properties in Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming. He served as the president of the Utah Association of REALTORS. After their last child left home, Mac joined the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue team, and has responded to over 240 wilderness rescues. He holds a BES degree from BYU in Civil Engineering (“E” for the five-year Engineering degree). Mac currently serves in a Mid-Single Adult Ward Bishopric.

Christeena Brubaker has written children’s stories and music. She paints, draws, gardens, plays the organ and piano, and enjoys photography. She attended BYU-Hawaii and BYU-Provo, and is a graduate of the Denver School of Floral Design. Christeena and Mac have served senior missions in New Mexico and Guatemala. They are the parents of 8 children and 19 grandchildren.

Merrill & Nancy Bryan

Merrill Bryan has served the last few years as the director of the LDS Visitors’ Center at Park City Family Tree Center. Previously he served as a guest-services missionary on Temple Square. Merrill retired as senior vice president and CIO of Union Pacific. He has over 40 years of business experience in the transportation field. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management.  Nancy has served with her husband for the last few years at the Park City Family Tree Center. Previously, she served as a guest-services missionary on Temple Square. Nancy and Merrill are the parents of five children.

Rick & Evelyn Bryson

Rick Bryson, originally from Washington, DC, graduated from BYU in economics and law. He served a Federal Junior Fellowship with the United States Patent Office and the US Department of Commerce in Washington, DC, and a Judicial Clerkship on the US Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. He practiced Appellate, Commercial and Intellectual Property Litigation in Phoenix, Arizona for over 30 years before becoming a “recovering lawyer.” Since 2015, he has variously taught at ASU Law School, Benedictine University, Heritage Academy and LDS Institute of Religion.

Evelyn Bryson is an artist, florist, designer, singer, and her new-found love, pickleballer. A small town girl from northern Arizona, Evelyn met Rick, a city slicker from Washington, DC, at BYU. They have 5 married children and 15 grandchildren. Evelyn and Rick live in Mesa, Arizona.

Douglas & Ann Bush

Douglas Bush is currently serving as mission president of the Honduras San Pedro Sula West Mission for the LDS Church. Prior to his calling he was a partner at Arent Fox LLP in Washington, D.C., specializing in trademark and copyright law. He is the former International Chair of the J. Reuben Clark Law Society and is a member of the Clark Society Advisors. Doug has assisted in organizing the International Religious Liberty Award Dinner in Washington, D.C. in October each year and its student writing competition. He is a graduate of BYU Law School and a former Court Law Clerk for the US Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit.

Ann Bush is a former member of the Board of Directors for the Washington, D.C. Coalition for the Homeless, and also worked as a bank human resource officer. She is a graduate from Ricks College. Ann and Doug have have three children.

Stacey Sweet Campbell

Stacey Sweet Campbell works as a volunteer nurse at a clinic for the working poor and at a school for homeless children, and has done nurse education and medical outreach work in Vietnam. She graduated from the University of Utah with a B.S. in nursing. Stacey was born in Salt Lake City. She and her husband, Dave, have lived in Phoenix, Arizona for thirty-five years. They have five children and eleven grandchildren

Elder Craig A. & Deborah L. Cardon

Elder Craig Cardon has been serving as a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and was recently released and given emeritus status. He served as an Assistant Executive Director in the Priesthood Department, as Editor of Church magazines, and in other assignments. He previously served as president of the Africa West Area for the Church.  Elder Cardon studied accounting and earned a BA degree from Arizona State University. He received an MPA degree from the Harvard Kennedy School with a Methodological Area of Concentration in Leadership and was named a Littauer Fellow. He married Deborah Louise Dana in 1970, and they are the parents of eight children and have a growing number of grandchildren.

Craig D. & Aimee Cardon

Craig D. Cardon is Executive of the family investment company. He received his JD from Northwestern School of Law at Lewis and Clark College, and his Bachelors in Finance from Brigham Young University.

Aimee L. Cardon is a full-time mother. She works part time as an Arizona representative for CanaVox, a traditional marriage movement. Aimee and Craig have six beautiful children.

Paul & Raeanna Cardon

Paul D. Cardon is a principal of Bench Equity, LLC, a private money lending company headquartered in Mesa, Arizona. He is licensed to practice law in the State of Arizona. Paul graduated from Brigham Young University with a BS in Management (emphasis in Financial Services) and from Arizona State University with a JD. Paul’s greatest joy stems from his family– his wife and six children.

Raeanna M. Cardon graduated magna cum laude from Brigham Young University with a BS in Marriage, Family and Human Development. Her primary focus and joy are nurturing her six children. She can usually be found at her children’s activities being their biggest cheerleader. Raeanna has interest in health and fitness. She has completed two marathons, including the 2016 Boston Marathon.

Sheldon & Joan Child

Sheldon Child became a general authority of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a member of the Church’s Second Quorum of the Seventy in 1996. Two years later, he was transferred to the First Quorum of the Seventy where he served until October 2008, when he was released and designated an emeritus general authority. He served as president of the LDS Church’s Salt Lake Temple from 2008 to 2011. Sheldon worked in management at RC Willey for years and is the former president. He was born in Ogden and raised in Syracuse, Utah.  Joan and Sheldon were married in 1957. They are the parents of six children.

William & Patricia Child

Bill Child serves as Chairman of the Board of RC Willey Home Furnishings. He took the company over in 1954 with one employee, and 40 years later sold the company to Warren Buffet of Berkshire Hathaway. Now sales are approaching $1 Billion. He enjoys golf, swimming and spending time with his family. Bill and Pat spend a lot of time in Hawaii at a resort in which they are the major shareholder. Bill and Pat are the proud grandparents of 31 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. They served as directors of the Washington DC Temple Visitors Center for two years and enjoy the opportunity of supporting many charitable organizations and educational programs throughout the country and the state of Utah.

Kimball & Olivia Christianson

Kimball works as a radiologist for Revere Health. He did a radiology residency at Duke University; and went to medical school at Vanderbilt University. He also attended the University of Utah, graduating in German, where he also played football. While Kimball’s father worked as a BYU religion professor, his family spent time in Jerusalem and Vienna for Study Abroad programs. They eventually moved to Provo; Kimball was born in Florida.

Olivia Christianson worked in communications for a few years before the birth of their first child. She studied communications at BYU — Public Relations and Political Science. She also served in the Texas Houston East Mission. Liv grew up moving around the U.S. and in Germany. Before moving to Utah, she and Kimball lived in Tennessee, North Carolina, and Idaho. They are the parents of four children.

David & Mary Christensen

David Christensen is managing partner of Milestone Holdings, a privately held real estate investment company. Formerly, he was co-president of Nearon Enterprises, and previous to that he was the manager of acquisitions at Bechtel Investments Realty. He earned his bachelor’s degree in financial planning from Brigham Young University in 1980 and a Masters degree in Business Administration from Yale School of Management in 1985. David has worked with the International Center for Law and Religion Studies of the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University since 2002, and currently serves as Chair of its International Advisory Council. L. Whitney Clayton & Kathy Kipp Clayton

Elder L. Whitney Clayton was sustained as a General Authority Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on March 31, 2001. He was called as a member of the Presidency of the Seventy in April 2008 and named Senior President of the Quorums of the Seventy on October 6, 2015. He was released and granted emeritus status on October 3, 2020. Elder Clayton served as a counselor in the South America South Area Presidency from 2002 to 2003 and as President from 2003 to 2006 while living in Buenos Aires, Argentina.  Previously he served as an Area Seventy for the North America West Area for six years. He has served in a number of Church callings, including full-time missionary in Peru, regional representative, counselor in a mission presidency, stake high councilor, bishop, stake mission president, and Gospel Doctrine teacher. Elder Clayton earned a bachelor’s degree in finance at the University of Utah and a law degree at the University of the Pacific. He was an attorney in California, USA, from 1978 to 2001. Elder Clayton was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on February 24, 1950.  He married Kathy Ann Kipp in August 1973.  They are parents of seven children and grandparents to 30 grandchildren.

Jordan & Julie Clements

Jordan Clements was the co-founder and managing partner of Peterson Partners, a Salt Lake City-based private equity firm, from 1995 to 2010. He served as mission president of the Minnesota Minneapolis Mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 2011 to 2014. David & Julie Colton

Dave Colton is currently a student coach and mentor at the Law School, and is assisting with several new conferences sponsored by the Center. He began service as Chair of the Center’s International Advisory Council in April 2018. He retired as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Freeport-McMoran Copper & Gold Company (formerly Phelps Dodge Corporation). Dave was a partner at Van Cott, Bagley, Cornwall & McCarthy. He and his wife, Julie, created and funded the S. David and Julie Colton Endowed Fund for ICLRS to support the Center’s activities and programs in Europe. They served as Government Relations Specialists assigned to the United Nations in New York City. Dave also worked as the LDS Europe Area Legal Council. Dave is a graduate of the J. Reuben Clark Law School, and both he and Julie are graduates from BYU. They are the parents of nine married children and currently have 24 grandchildren.

Phil & Barbara Colton

John P. (Phil) and Barbara S. Colton, longtime supporters of the International Center for Law and Religion Studies, served most recently as International Fellows, in their capacities as Government Relations Representatives in New York City. Phil Colton received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Utah in Metallurgical Engineering. Later he did graduate studies at University of Idaho, Moscow; University of Missouri, Rolla; Washington University, St. Louis University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Randy & Lisa Cone

Randy Cone runs the UBS Cone Institutional Consulting Group operating out of Washington, DC. He is the primary financial advisor and investment consultant to fiduciary boards, wealthy families and their family foundations regarding all of the complex issues surrounding their investment portfolios, IPS, and mission statements. He also serves as an investment performance analyst and strategist to a select clientele. Randy is a Certified Investment Management Analyst CIMA and an Accredited Investment Fiduciary. He serves on the Board of Trustees of the Institute for Islamic, Christian, and Jewish Studies, the C&O Canal Trust, and the William O. Douglas Society.

Lisa Cone serves as the Program Director for the National Campaign to Stop Violence (NCSV) and its “Do the Write Thing” Challenge initiative that was established by The Kuwait America Foundation. In that role, she works with leaders across the country as well as government offices in Washington, DC regarding youth violence. When their children young, she was actively engaged in church, school, and community service, experience she now uses in NCSV. Lisa and Randy are parents of six children and seven grandchildren.

Greg & Julie Cook

Greg Cook is a founding executive with doTERRA International, and serves on the Board of Directors for Mentors International. He has lived in Africa, Europe, South East Asia, North America, and recently returned from living in Shanghai, China. For over two decades Greg has developed and managed international opportunities and markets for companies in the health and wellness industry and the direct sales industry. Greg’s passion is in creating business and humanitarian efforts that improve the lives of individuals throughout the world. Greg graduated from BYU in International Relations, with a minor in Scandinavian Studies.

Julie Cook is passionate about humanitarian work and is actively engaged in multiple projects in China including cancer recovery, orphanages, and feminine hygiene for the poor. She currently serves as Asia Director for Days for Girls. Julie graduated from BYU majoring in Business Education and minoring in Dance Education and Business Management. Julie and Greg are the parents of five children.

Jim & Sandy Cook

Jim Cook is the president and co-owner of Calva Products, which manufactures milk replacers and calf-care products. He and his wife, Sandy, live in Lodi, California. They were both widowed, and married in 2005.  Jim and Sandy currently serve as co-chairs of the Knight Society at Brigham Young University, an organization created to recognize the generosity of University donors. They are new members of the IAC Executive Committee.

Sandy Cook had her first horse at age 7 and road by herself all over their rural community. She attended UC Santa Barbara and finished at UCLA in Analytical Biology. Sandy wanted to be a doctor but married the boy next door, a new MD, and she ran his offices as a multi-specialty medical administrator years later. Sandy built the clinics and his eye surgical center. He died and she was a widow in Provo for 14 years.  She and Jim have 10 children between them and 24 grandchildren.

Lew & Barbara Cramer

Lew Cramer is the Utah CEO for Colliers International. He is also founding president of the World Trade Center Utah, and serves on its board. He also serves on the International World Trade Center Board. Lew served as Director General of the U.S. Commercial Service under the George H.W. Bush administration. He currently serves on several corporate and nonprofit boards. He also practiced real estate law in Los Angeles and in the San Francisco Bay area. For many years, Lew taught real estate law at the University of Southern California and international business at Georgetown University. He graduated from BYU’s J. Reuben Clark School of Law.

Barbara Cramer is a life-long musician, accomplished on the piano, organ, and voice. She sang in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir from 2007-2014. She grew up in southern California and went to BYU, graduating with a BA in English. Barb and Lew have six children and thirteen grandchildren. They have lived in California, Virginia and now live in Salt Lake City.

Mark & Janette Cressler

Mark Cressler entered full-time service with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints after spending his career in real estate development. He is currently assigned to the Special Projects Department where his primary responsibilities are the selection and recommendation of Church temple sites and other strategic assignments. Mark was born in California and was raised in Germany. He is married to Janette Smith Cressler, and they are the parents of five children.

Gary & Ann Crocker

Gary L. Crocker is the Chairman of Merrimack Pharmaceuticals, a privately held biotech firm based in Cambridge, Massachusetts that develops diagnostic tests and novel drugs for cancer treatment. Mr. Crocker is President of Crocker Ventures, LLC, a life science private investment firm. He is in the midst of his second term on the Board of Directors of the Federal Reserve Branch of San Francisco and also serves as a member of the Advisory Board of Sorenson Capital, an LBO private equity fund. He has held senior executive or director level positions in several successful life science firms including service from 1998 to 2003 as Chairman of ARUP Laboratories, as a director of Interleuken Genetics, Inc, and LineaGen Genetics, LLC, and as a co-founder…

Elaine Davis

Elaine Davis and her late husband, Donald, were two of the original founders of Southern Virginia University. They were involved with the National Advisory Council to the BYU Marriott School of Management, where Elaine served as chair of NAC spouses, and was instrumental in establishing the Single Parent Scholarship Fund. She and Donald served a mission to BYU Athletics and was also a member of the BYU Emeriti Alumni Board for five years. Elaine received her degree from BYU in history with a political science minor.

Ralph & Mary Dewsnup

Ralph Dewsnup is a trial attorney and founding member of Dewsnup, King & Olsen law firm in Salt Lake City, where he has practiced law since 1977. He is a retired Brigadier General in the United States Air Force, having served in the Utah Air National Guard for thirty-nine years.

Mary Dewsnup is a former elementary school teacher who left teaching to be a mother. The Dewsnup’s are the parents of five children and they have 25 grandchildren.

David Doxey

David Doxey’s career has been in real estate development and property management. He stays active with family and loves the temple. He has been a temple sealer for 37 years and has had the privilege of officiating in the marriages of most of his children and many of his grandchildren. David and Joanne have lived in Salt Lake, Phoenix, Barcelona, and Madrid. They served together for several years in Spain, first presiding over the Spain Barcelona Mission in its early days and later as the president and matron of the Madrid Temple. They also served in the presidency of the Salt Lake Temple as counselor and assistant to the matron. David graduated in finance from the University of Utah. He was born and raised in Salt Lake City. He married his high school sweetheart, Joanne Bushman, and they have eight children. Joanne passed away in 2020.

Greg & Monica Drennan

Greg Drennan is a partner at Crescendo Properties (dba Shield Storage), and is also a partnet at Quick Quack Car Wash.  In 2016, he sold LifeStorage, where he was the Director and Acquisitions Adviser in Sacramento, California. He served in various leadership capacities in the company for many years. Previously, he was the Controller at SKK Enterprises, Inc., a Sacramento regional develoop and home building company. Greg graduated from Brigham Young University with a BS in Business Management, Accounting.

Rick and Janel Durfee

As an attorney, Rick Durfee represents high net worth families throughout the country for Multi-Generation Estate and Business Succession Planning, focusing on protecting the family. He is a nationally known speaker, and has been featured at the Money Show, the FreedomFest, and the Financial Planning Association. He is the founding director of Arizona Bank and Trust. Rick has served on the Board of Gilbert Chamber of Commerce and on the Planned Giving Committees for Chandler Regional Hospital, the Arthritis Foundation, and the Advocates Council for the Arizona School of Health Sciences. He is the CEO and Chairman of Legacy Global Foundation, Inc. He has served as a Judge Pro Tem in Maricopa County. In addition to his law degree, Rick has a Bachelor of Arts in Asian Language (Japanese/Chinese), and a Master of Arts in Religious Studies.

Janel Durfee is an Investment Advisor Representative and COO with Wealth Resource Investment Advisors. She is also a Cranial Sacral Therapist (CST). Janel is President of Gilbert Fine Arts Association, and has been the producer of Gilbert Fine Arts Association youth productions since 2003. She has been a volunteer Vice-President of Legacy Global Foundation since 2001. She graduated from ASU in Family Studies. Janel and Rick have been heavily involved in the Scouting program for many years. They are the proud parents of eight children and grandparents of 12.

Cole & Louise Durham

W. Cole Durham Durham, Jr., is the Founding Director of the International Center for Law and Religion Studies. A graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Law School, Cole has had a distinguished career in comparative law scholarship, with specific emphasis on comparative constitutional and church-state law. He is immediate past president of the International Consortium for Law and Religion Studies, based in Milan, Italy, and is co-editor-in-chief of the Oxford Journal of Law and Religion. Paul & Maren Durham

Paul Durham and his wife, Maren, are currently presiding over the California Oakland/San Franciso mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Prior to their call, Paul was the Director and General Counsel at Durham Jones & Pinegar, a law firm he founded in 1991.  Paul received his B.A. (1977) and J.D. (1980) from the University of Utah. He was chair of the alumni board at the U Law School at the same time he taught at BYU Law School as an adjunct professor. Paul practices in Real Estate Law and Mergers & Acquisitions.

Maren Durham attended the University of Utah and worked at ZCMI Department Store as the Buyer in the Gift Department. She traveled to New York and Los Angeles frequently and made many trips to Asia, India, and Europe for product development. She stopped working to be a full-time mother of four children. She volunteered for many years teaching art each week in elementary school classes.

Richard & Christena Durham

Richard Durham is the founder and chairman of Aries Capital Partners, a private equity investment firm. Prior to his private equity investment endeavors, Rick spent several years at Huntsman Corporation in various positions, including chief financial officer and president. He later served as chairman and CEO of Pliant Corporation, a major flexible packaging company. Rick has been involved as an investor and board member of numerous companies and has also been involved with several charitable organizations. Rick is a graduate of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Christena serves on the boards of several charitable organizations, including the Huntsman Foundation, The Road Home, the Huntsman World Senior Games, the Carmen Pingree School for Autism, and the Moran Eye Center, and is committed to serving others. Christena is the mother of seven children and grandmother to several grandchildren.

David & Christina Foote

David and his wife, Christina, are currently serving a mission for the Church in Frankfurt, Germany. They have owned and operated businesses in Reno and Las Vegas. David was a general contractor in Reno for twenty years; and they were business owners in Las Vegas for another twenty years. They served as Georgia Atlanta Mission President and companion from 2015 to 2018. David and Christina also served together in Frankfurt Germany in the Europe Area Office.

Christina and her husband, David, have six children and twenty-one grandchildren who are spread across the country. This is where Christina and David have spend much of their time; they are the joy of their lives. Christina is an artist, enjoying both portraiture and landscape.

Bryson & Jan Garbett

Bryson Garbett is president and founder of Garbett Homes. He started his construction career as an 18-year-old framer. In 1988, after graduating from the University of Utah with a degree in History, Bryson decided to start his own company. After years of perseverance, Garbett Homes has become one of the largest and most innovative home builders in the state of Utah. Bryson and his family have made a difference in the world by donating to various causes including supporting education for children in Mexico and women in Iraq. Bryson is now engaging Salt Lake City’s homelessness problems with other concerned community members.

Jan Garbett serves on several boards  and is a founder or supporter of multiple non-profits addressing needs both locally and abroad, such as community theatres, choirs, PTAs, Pioneer Redd-rock settlement building family, women in Iraq, and kids needing education in Mexico. Jan studied English at BYU and graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in English. Jan and Bryson have eight children and seven grandchildren.

Sue Garff

Blair Garff has retired as Managing Director of Morgan Stanley Investment Management. He was born in San Francisco, California. He and his wife, Suzanne, are the parents of six children. They reside in White Plains, New York. Sue served as the Matron of the Manhattan New York Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She also served with her husband, Blair, where he was the mission president of the Nigeria Enugu Mission. In Scarsdale, New York, Sue was a member of the Junior League of Northern Westchester County, and chairman of fundraising. She graduated from Southern Illinois University in Health and Physical Education. Sue attended the University of Utah. She grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah. Sue and Blair are the parents of four sons and two daughters, and grandparents of twenty.

Larry Miner and Peggy Gibson

Larry M. Gibson recently served as a counselor in the Young Men General Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Larry received bachelor’s and master’s degrees in computer science and information science from Brigham Young University. His professional career has spanned both corporate and entrepreneurial organizations; he has started several technology companies and most recently worked as senior executive vice president and CTO/CIO of a Fortune 100 corporation in the healthcare industry. He and his late wife, Shirley, are the parents of six children.

Doris Gillette

Doris and her late husband, David, served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Utah Salt Lake City Temple Square Mission and as president and “mission mother” in the Massachusetts Boston Mission. Doris has served in stake Relief Society and Primary presidencies, as stake activities committee chair, ward Young Women president, and counselor in a ward Relief Society presidency. She has traveled throughout the world. She is a master sewer and genealogist.

Scott & Cheri Gubler

Scott Gubler is an attorney. He is the Co-founder, Chief Executive Officer and President of Deseret Laboratories in St. George, Utah. The company engages in the manufacture of various pharmaceutical products, and is a provider of research and development, quality granulation, tableting, encapsulation, coating, and packaging services. Scott received his JD at the J. Reuben Clark Law School at BYU.

Wayne & Connie Hancock

 

Wayne Hancock has retired as vice president and general counsel of Dow Chemical Co. and served in several leadership capacities within the company over many years.  Wayne received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Brigham Young University and a juris doctorate from the University of Arizona.  He served in the Judge Advocate General branch of the U.S. Air Force for four years and practiced law for six years in Phoenix before joining Dow.  He and his wife, Connie, have eight children.

David & Jennifer Harden

Dave L. Harden founded Summit Global Investments, an investment firm focused on risk management in 2010. He currently is the CEO and Chief Investment Officer, where he oversees multiple investment strategies, including seven mutual funds. Prior to starting SGI, he worked for Ensign Peak Advisors, Wachovia, Wellington and Fidelity Investments. Dave received his BA from Boston College and his Master of Science in Computer Science from Boston University.

Jennifer D. Harden currently focuses the majority of her time with their children and grandchildren. She also keeps herself busy as a board member of Summit Global Investments. She volunteers much of her time at the public schools. Her hobbies include gardening, cooking, hiking, and lively political discussions. She is an avid reader and participates in a variety of study groups.

Richard & Ann Herlin

Richard Herlin is a retired partner of Deloitte. He began his career with Deloitte in Salt Lake City and has worked in New York City; Atlanta; Wilton, Connecticut; Dallas; Philadelphia; Chicago, and Midland, Michigan. He worked in the audit practice and focused on serving large, multinational companies. Rich graduated from BYU with a Masters of Accountancy. Since retiring, Rich and Ann have served Church missions in the Europe East Area (based in Moscow), and in Romania, serving Ukrainian refugees.

Ann Herlin was raised in Orem, Utah and graduated from BYU in elementary education. She taught for eight years. Ann enjoys quilting, reading, and playing the piano. She volunteers with Rising Star Outreach to help those with leprosy. Her favorite hobby is spending time with her family. Rich and Ann have four children and wonderful grandchildren.

Broc & Lori Hiatt

Broc Hiatt is the owner and managing partner of the private firm, Cardon Hiatt Companies, with dealings in real estate, finance, petroleum, hospitality, agricultural, and business investments throughout the United States. He received degrees in Business Management and Accounting at Brigham Young University and Arizona State University. Broc has served on various community boards and as the trustee of several national nonprofit organizations.

Lori Hiatt is active in CanaVox, a traditional marriage effort. She received her bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University in Early Childhood Education, and her Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Northern Arizona University. Lori and Broc are the parents of six children and eight grandchildren.

Grif & Brittny Hiatt

Grif C. Hiatt is the CFO for the Cardon Hiatt and Cardon Bowden family offices as well as one of the founders of Bench Equity, LLC, a multi-state commercial lender. He was raised by his mother and five siblings in Mesa, Arizona. He attended Arizona State University where he received a degree in accountancy. He continues to devote time to youth organizations and enjoys influencing the younger generation positively. With his extra time, he enjoys being active and spending time with his five children.

Clark & Kathleen Hinckley

Clark B. Hinckley worked most of his career in the commercial banking industry, including as a senior officer of Zions First National Bank, where he continues to serve as an advisory director. He is the author of “Christopher Columbus: A Man Among the Gentiles,” and editor of “Rescued: The Courageous Journey of Mary Goble Pay.” Clark is a graduate of BYU in mathematics, and the Harvard Business School. He was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Kathleen H. Hinckley served with Clark as mission leader in the Spain Barcelona Mission; she and Clark also served as matron and president of the Tijuana Mexico Temple. She co-authored with Clark “Taking off the Tag: A Transition Guide for Returned Missionaries.” Kathleen graduated from BYU in fashion design and worked in the fashion industry in Boston and New York before her children were born. Kathleen was born in Salt Lake City and raised in Dallas, Texas. They are the parents of six children.

Curtis & Irene Hill

Curtis Hill spent the first half of his career at Northwest Airlines in various operations and finance roles. Curtis and Irene were then the lead investors in the start-up of Imagine Learning, Inc. in Provo, Utah, a company that develops software to teach English to elementary-aged students in the United States. Curtis is a certified pilot and loves to fly. He received his BA and MBA from Brigham Young University. Curtis grew up in San Jose, California.

Irene Hill’s chosen career is to be a mom of six children and now a grandmother of five.  She graduated from BYU with a BA and earned her MBA from the University of Minnesota. Irene enjoys travel, teaching, and serving in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Scott & Carol Hill

Scott Hill is a retired chemical engineer who worked for Los Alamas National Laboratory, BYU, USU, and had a consulting firm. He currently enjoys programming mobile apps – “Family History Escape Room” and “Temples in Color” are just a few.

Carol Hill earned her Family History degree when Scott was working at BYU. She has her own YouTube channel with videos about tips on using Family Search and genealogy in general. She served a church service mission for six years with FamilySearch. They are the parents of six children.

Robert & Cheryl Horne

Robert C. Horne is a CPA, a real estate broker, and a new car dealership owner. He attended Brigham Young University, and graduated from ASU with an accounting degree. He also served in the Arizona National Guard. Robert has served in many leadership capacities in the Church. He was born and raised in Mesa, Arizona.

Cheryl K. Horne assisted her husband, Robert, with their businesses. She worked in a law firm for seven years, and attended college. Cheryl has served in many leadership capacities in the Church. She was born and raised in Mesa, Arizona. She and Robert are the parents of eight children.

Roger & Mauna Sue Hunt

Roger L. Hunt was active in the law for 46 years, 22 years as a trial attorney, 8 years as a U.S. Magistrate Judge, and 24 years as a U.S. District Judge (serving as Chief Judge of the District of Nevada for 4 1/2 years) before taking an inactive senior status in 2016. He also served 7 years, by Presidential appointment, as member of the Board of Trustees of the Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation. Roger and his wife have served 3 missions: temple mission to D.C. Temple, training judges in Sri Lanka, and most recently in the Area Office of General Counsel in the Africa Southeast Area. He has served as Patriarch, temple ordinance worker, and a Sealer. He received his JD from George Washington University School of Law, and his BA degree in History from BYU.

Mauna Sue H. Hunt returned in December 2019 from their mission in the Africa Southeast Area where she was involved in processing missionary applications for the Area Presidency. She also served with Roger in the D.C. Temple and in Sri Lanka where she assisted her husband in training judges in judicial case management and mediation. Mauna Sue served as an ordinance worker in the Las Vegas Temple and the Johannesburg Temple and now serves in the sealing office in the Las Vegas Temple. She was born in Logan, Utah and was reared in Las Vegas. Mauna Sue and Roger have 6 children, 19 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.

Richard & Nan Hunter

Richard Hunter practiced law in California for 30 years specializing in asset protection, estate planning, and taxation. He is affiliated with the Howard W. Hunter Mormon Studies Council at Claremont College. Richard served as Mission President for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Auckland, New Zealand and President of the Oakland California Temple. He graduated in accounting from BYU and received his J.D. From Berkeley Law School.

Nan Hunter founded the Almaden Country School, a private non-profit school in San Jose, California.  She has served as a board member to several non-profit organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area.  She is the author of the LDS Hymn #154 (“Father, This Hour Has Been One of Joy”) and of The Diary of Howard Hunter, age 10. She has been recognized for her poetry and biographies. Nan graduated from BYU in Zoology.

Nan and Richard have eight children and 36 grandchildren. They had been married for 60 years when Richard died at age 83 on September 9, 2021.  [See his obituary here.]

King & Diane Husein

King Husein is the Chairman and CEO of Span Construction and Engineering, the country’s largest metal building construction company. The company specializes in the engineering and construction of large steel buildings. It is also the exclusive builder for Costco Wholesale worldwide. King received a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Bombay. He also received his master’s degree in Civil and Structural Engineering from Brigham Young University. King was born in Bombay, India.

Diane Husein is the vice president of Legacy Freedom Management, LLC. She is from Star Valley, Wyoming. Diane and King are the parents of four children.

Blair & Katrina Jackson

Blair Jackson is a partner with Invictus Law in Lindon, Utah, and the owner of Invictus Title Insurance Agency and Invictus Insurance Agency. Previously, Blair was an attorney with Claro y Cia in Santiago, Chile. He also worked fro the U.S. Department of Agriculture and for the United Nations Foundation, in Washington DC. Blair received a B.S. in Finance at Brigham Young University, an M.A. in Finance at University of Nebraska, and a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. He holds State Bar Admissions in six different states, including Utah, Nevada, California, Idaho, Alaska, and New York.

Kristina Jackson was born in Colorado, and later her family moved to the suburbs of Salt Lake City.  She graduated from Brigham Young University, where she received a Bachelor’s in Accounting degree.  She has spent the last nineteen years raising her and Blair’s six children.

Eric & Kaye Jackson

Eric and Kaye Jackson are currently involved in planning and hosting African conferences with the ICLRS. Eric recently served with Kaye as mission president over the Uganda-Ethiopia-South Sudan-Rwanda Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Eric and Kaye previously served as the Area Public Affairs Directors for the Africa South East Area for the Church. Eric formed the Jackson Group of Peterbilt stores. Prior to that formation, he had owned Peterbilt franchises, as well as purchasing a company from General Motors. Mike & Jean Jensen

Mike L. Jensen joined the Office of General Counsel for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 2001. In that capacity, the Jensen’s have lived in Moscow, Russia, Hong Kong, China and Frankfurt Germany. Mike worked in private practice for many years in Los Angeles and San Diego. He also clerked for the Ninth Circuit. Mike received a J.D. from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at BYU, and a bachelor’s degree from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University. He was raised in Bellevue, Washington, and born in Sacramento, California.

Jean S. Jensen taught in the English Department at Ricks College and BYU. She received her master’s and bachelor’s degree from BYU in American Literature. Jean was raised in Oakley, Idaho, and was born in Burley, Idaho. She and Mike have six children and twelve grandchildren and currently live in Orem, Utah.

Mark & Christi Jensen

Mark Jensen attended MIT and Harvard Business School. After many years in the enterprise software industry, he started a specialty finance company that makes commercial loans to auto dealers and auto finance companies. Mark and Christi are committed to supporting organizations that prioritize defending religious freedom. They have supported the church’s educational institutions for many years, prioritizing online education and student financial aid.

Christi Jensen attended Texas Tech University and has spent most of her time raising their children. Alec, the youngest, has severe Autism. Christi started a home for him in Provo and travels between Texas and Utah to manage Alec’s staff and home. Mark and Christi grew up in Lubbock, Texas and were in Primary together. Christi and Mark have four children and six grandchildren.

Glendon “Woody” & Page Johnson

Woody Johnson spent his law career as a corporate finance attorney in Houston, Texas and Washington, D.C.  He is the owner of Castle Valley Ranches (ranching) and Castle Valley Outdoors (Orvis-endorsed wing shooting operation) in Emery, Utah. Woody received an Honors BA in economics from the University of Utah and a JD from the University of Texas Law School. He serves as a director of the Waddell & Reed Ivy Funds.

Page Johnson is a freelance writer and photographer who worked for the BYU press and National Public Radio and who occasionally writes for the Church News and Meridian Magazine. She has a BA in journalism from Brigham Young University and an MA in communications from the University of Utah. She and Woody are the parents of three daughters and five grandchildren.

Chris & Erlynn Lansing

J. Christopher Lansing and his wife, Erlynn, are currently serving as Church Hosting Directors. Christ has been the C.O.B. of Lansing Building Products from 2019-2020, and was the President and C.E.O. for the past twenty years. The company operates seventy-five branch warehouses in thirty states across the country. It sells specialty building products to the professional contractor. Chris is the President of the Richmond Chapter of Rotary, Council President of Boy Scouts of America, and Chairman of Collegiate School. He has served as bishop, stake president, Area Seventy, and mission president for the church. Chris earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from BYU.

Erlynn E. Lansing served with her husband, Chris, in the Utah Salt Lake City South Mission, where he was president. Erlynn was the president of Parents’ Association at the Madeira School in Virginia. She taught seminary and institute for twenty years. She also worked at the White House for four years. Erlynn is the mother of four and grandmother of 14.

Jim & Allyson Larkins

Jim Larkins is the lead portfolio manager for Wasatch Global Investors in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he has worked since 1998. He specializes in equity research for Small Cap value investing. Prior to his career at Wasatch Advisors, Jim worked as a systems consultant for what is now Accenture. He also worked for a start-up company in the data storage industry. Jim received his BA in Economics and a Master of Business Administration from Brigham Young University. Allyson currently focuses her time on their family of three children. She has taught and choreographed for ballet schools in the Salt Lake area. She danced for Ballet West professionally for 11 years, finishing her career as a soloist dancer. She received a BA from the University of Utah in Ballet.

Helen Leon lives in Central Florida where she seeks to make a difference by supporting the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. David LeSueur is the retired founder and chief executive officer of LeSueur Investments. He and his wife Nancy have just concluded a term of service as president and matron of the Gilbert Arizona Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ Gilbert Arizona Temple. Neil & Denise Lindberg

Neil A. Lindberg, a southern California native, is an attorney and city planner who has been in the land use business since 1973. After working for several years as a city planner for local government, he obtained a law degree from the J. Reuben Clark law school and practiced land use law in Washington, DC. After returning to Utah in 1995, he started a firm to help local governments address land use issues. Neil also served as Municipal Council Attorney for Provo and as counsel to the Salt Lake City Council for several years. He also served as president of the Utah Chapter of the American Planning Association and the J. Reuben Clark Law School Alumni Board. Neil has Bachelor of Science and Master of Public Administration degrees from BYU. Nei8l and Denise ate the parents of two sons and grandparents of eleven.

Denise is currently a Utah Senior District Judge. She and her husband Neil were called to serve at the Organization of American States in Washington, DC, where they represented ICLRS and Latter-day Saint Charities until December 2021. Denise was also appointed to the district court bench in the Third Judicial District. Prior to that appointment, she practiced appellate and healthcare law in Washington, DC. Denise served on the young Women’s General Board of the Church. She clerked at the US Supreme Court and the US Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. Denise received her J.D., Magna Cum Laude, from J. Reuben Clark Law School, and receiver her Ph.D. and M.S. from the University of Utah, and her BA from BYU. Denise is a native of Havana, Cuba.

David and Bianca Lisonbee recently were released from presiding over the Brazil Salvador Mission for the Church. David founded 4Life Research, LLC in 1998 and serves as its Chief Executive Officer. He was named one of Utah’s Entrepreneurs of the Year, and has secured a record list of patents. David was awarded the I.N. Blokhina Award from the Russian Federation in honor of his commitment to Transfer Factor research, patents, and innovative production methods. Kent & Karen Lundquist

Kent Lundquist spent the majority of his career in entrepreneurial pursuits. He also spent over a decade as Director of Finance, and then Chief Deputy County Auditor in Salt Lake County Government. Kent also worked for KPMG, an international accounting firm based in Los Angeles, and was licensed as a CPA. He acquired a degree in Banking and Finance and an MBA from the University of Utah.

Karen Lundquist’s career was focused on motherhood and supporting her husband’s professional pursuits. Larry & Susan Lunt

Larry Lunt’s business career includes Key Property Management, Lunt Capital Management, oil and gas development and several successful businesses. He has served in the Utah Legislature, Board of Trustees of Southern Utah University and Vice Chairman of Boy Scouts of America. Larry retired as a Brigadier General after 36 years of service in the Air Force. He served as President of the Louisville Kentucky Temple and Kentucky Louisville Mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Susan Lunt has been involved with the family business throughout the years. She served for six years with her husband in Louisville Kentucky as Matron of the LDS Louisville Temple and as Kentucky Louisville Mission “Mother.” Susan graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management. Susan and Larry are the parents of six married children, and they have 25 grandchildren.

John Charles Maddux-John serves as the CEO of Sunstone Two Tree (“Sunstone”), an owner, operator, renovator, developer, and fund manager of multifamily and residential rental housing communities. He has also been the President of Sunstone Partners, LLC. John has participated in over $25 billion in real estate transactions. He also served as a founder and shareholder of the law firm Nevers, Palazzo, Maddux & Packard, PLC. He practiced law with O’Melveny & Myers LLP. John received his J.D. from BYU’s J. Reuben Clark Law School, where he graduated Cum Laude. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business management-finance from BYU’s Marriott School of Management.

Laurie Maddux-Laurie graduated with a B.S. from BYU in Secondary Education. Laurie enjoys playing tennis, being with people, and planting and tending a garden. She loves to remodel homes, and seems to always have a housing renovation project going on. Laurie and John love to travel. They are the parents of three sons, and have four grandchildren.

Stan & Susan Martineau

Stan Martineau is an attorney with Martineau, PLLC in Mesa, Arizona.  He recently served as Area Legal Counsel for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Africa and Mexico. He also served as a mission president for the LDS Church in Puerto Rico from 2007-2010. He practiced medical litigation law in Phoenix, Arizona from 1976-2006. Stan was also a Combat Interrogator in the United States Army in Saigon, Vietnam from 1969-1970. He received his Juris Doctor degree from the J. Reuben Clark School at Brigham Young University in 1976. Stan and Susan are the parents of ten children and have thirty grandchildren.

Carlos & Vania Martins

Carlos Martins is the CEO of Wizard Language Institute.  He wrote a self-help book entitled “Vencendo a Propria Crise” (Overcoming Personal Crisis). His 2012 book “Desperte o milionário que há em você” (Awake the Millionaire Inside of You) was a Brazilian bestseller. Carlos also served as president of the Berazil Joao Pessoa Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He studied at Brigham Young University, where he received a degree in Computer Science and Statistics. Carlos was born in Curitiba, Paraná, Brazil. He and his wife are the parents of six children.

Derek & Shelaine Maxfield

Derek Maxfield serves as Chief Executive Officer and Founder at Younique, LLC. Previously he served as Founder and Chief Technology Officer at NetSteps, LLC.  Derek has many years of experience in working with direct sales companies. He was recognized by Utah Valley Business Quarterly Magazine twice as No. 1 and No. 8 overall for the area’s fastest growing companies. Derek studied Computer Science at Brigham Young University.

Shelaine Maxfield is President and Chair of the Board of Trustees at Saprea, which was the driving purpose for the creation of Younique. The foundation is an organization to help survivors of childhood sexual abuse find healing and hope. She and her husband, Derek, are the parents of five children.

Jonathan & Jeanette McEachran

Jonathan McEachran and his wife have invested in residential, commercial, and industrial real estate across Ontario and in student housing in Rexburg, Idaho. They developed a successful industrial rail service center where they specialized in switching and storing railcars and transloading Hazmat goods for Exxon Mobil, Shell, and other neighboring manufacturers. In 2017 they sold the VIP group of companies. Jon started VIP Rail with his father in Sarnia, Ontario Canada. Jon is active in politics and continues to volunteer on several not-for-profit boards. After graduation, he worked in the insurance industry. Jon received his BS in Political Science, minor in History, and a certificate in International Relations from the University of Utah; and also graduated from Ricks College.

Jeanette McEachran has a passion for natural medicine and homeopathic practices. She is a stay at home mom. Together they are raising their five children between the ages of five and twenty. She and Jon started off managing properties while they were students at the University. After graduation, Jeanette worked in real estate.

Reid & Melanie Moon

Reid Moon is an antiquarian book dealer who specializes in rare Mormon books, documents, early Bibles [1250-1899 AD] and important historical books and artifacts. He has traveled over a million miles, to 45 of the 50 states, and all over Europe, North, and South America tracking down these treasures. He is a regular guest on the Glenn Beck Program. He graduated from BYU in 1985.

Melanie Moon and her husband, Reid, have eight children and five grandchildren. Melanie is a busy mother of their four younger children. She enjoys traveling with Reid to book fairs around the world. Melanie grew up in California.

Linda Nearon grew up in Salt Lake City and graduated from the University of Utah in 1964 with a degree in History and Political Science, with Secondary Teaching Credentials. Linda worked on a Master’s Degree at San Jose State University and in The Hoover Institution in the Publications Department at Stanford University. Linda married David Nearon in 1967, and raised four children in the San Francisco Bay Area. She taught school in the Dablo Unified School District in the 1990’s. In the late 1990’s Linda was a docent for Paleontology and Anthropology at the University of California in Berkeley. Linda’s passion is oil painting. She is an award-winning artist and most recently won the Merit Award in Landscaping in Salon International 2008. Linda has been on the International Advisory Council of the International Center for Law and Religion Studies for the past five years. She is currently serving an LDS Service Mission in Moscow, Russia.

David & Tiffany Nearon

David Nearon, Jr. practices law in California with offices in Walnut Creek and Palo Alto.  He also serves as a corporate director of Nearon Enterprises, a private multi-state commercial real estate investment and development company. David is designated as a Certified Specialist by the California Board of Legal Specialization in probate, estate planning and trust law.  He received his J.D. from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University, his MBA from the Marriott School of Management at BYU, his bachelor’s degree in geography from the University of California, Berkeley.

Tiffany Nearon currently teaches early morning seminary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served a Church mission in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Joe & Karen Neff

Joe W. Neff is a retired partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he held numerous management positions. He is the cofounder and chairman of NEFF, a youth-oriented accessories brand. Joe has served as an adjunct professor at BYU, the University of Southern California, and DePaul University. He is the coauthor of five accounting/finance textbooks and is a frequent guest lecturer around the country. Joe was co-editor of the American Bar Association State Taxation Journal. He served as president of the New York/Pennsylvania Historic Sites for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Joe earned his bachelor’s degree from BYU and his JD from Drake/Southwestern University.

Karen Neff attended Brigham Young University. She and her husband, Joe, have four children and many grandchildren.

Mike & Cindy Neider

Michael A. Neider is the former President and CEO of Miro Industries. Prior to that position, he practiced law. He served on the Utah Govenor’s Commission for Women and Families and in the Young Men’s General Presidency for the Church. Mike and his first wife, Rosemary Curtis Neider, raised eight children. He served as the Nevada Las Vegas Mission President. After his wife passed away, Mike was called as the North America Central JustServe Area Specialist, and as the Utah National parks Boy Scout Council President. He later married Cynthia Terry Neider and they live in Heber City, Utah. Mike graduated with the J. Reuben Clark Law School’s Charter Class. He was born and raised in Pocatello, Idaho.

Cynthia T. Neider and her husband Mike are currently serving as Human Rights Education Missionaries with the Geneva Office for Human Rights Education. Cindy taught elementary school for over 30 years. She was known for her science fair leadership, school gardens, award winning Green Schools initiatives, original Healthy Lifestyle Operas, and the Morning Mile. She was awarded the Utah Enlightened 50 Award in 2012. Cindy graduated from BYU in Education, and enjoyed performing worldwide with the Lamanite Generation during college. She was raised in Colorado. Cindy has two children, and together Mike and Cindy share 37 grandchildren.

Jeff and Janet Matthews Nelson met at the University of Utah. Janet graduated with a degree in Mathematics, and certified to teach in secondary schools. Jeff graduated with a degree in Communications. Jeff studied for a semester at Universität Konstanz, in Konstanz, Germany, while Janet finished her degree. They married weeks before Jeff began law school at J. Reuben Clark Law School, from which he graduated in 1984. Janet taught high school math while Jeff was in law school. Janet and Jeff moved to Brooklyn, New York in 1984. Jeff has worked for a number of law firms in New York, including Kageneck & Witthuhn, King & Spalding and McDermott Will & Emery, first concentrating on German investment in the U.S., and then project finance. Since 1998 Jeff has worked for Westdeutche Landesbank (now Portigon AG) as in-house counsel, which included a three-year stint with the entire family in Düsseldorf, Germany, the bank’s headquarters. Janet’s primary work for years was at home raising their four children. She recently received her masters degree in Mathematics Education from Hunter College in New York City, and Professional Certification in New York State. She has been teaching mathematics for the last four years at Hunter College High School in New York City. In 2014 Janet was called to serve on the Young Women General Board of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and is one of five from outside Utah to currently serve in that calling. Jeff and Janet have been participating in the Annual Symposium of the International Center for Law and Religion Studies since 2006.

Robert & Joy Orton

Robert and Joy Orton represented the David M. Kennedy Center and the International Center for Law and Religion Studies (ICLRS) as Government Relations specialists at the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland, with a term ending in 2017. Bob practiced law in the Utah legal community for over 30 years after graduating from the University of Utah College of Law in 1964. In addition to an active trial practice, Bob devoted significant time to the Utah State Bar. His service included chairing the Continuing Education Committee, the Legal/Medical Committee, and the Bar Examination Committee as well as serving as a Bar Examiner. He has also been President of the Utah Trial Lawyers Association and was inducted into the American Board of Trial Advocates—a recognition that requires the honoree to have acted as lead counsel in at least 200 civil jury trials. Bob is currently serving as Honorary Consul for the Government of Romania to the State of Utah.

Bob’s career has also included dedicated service through The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including living in Moscow, Russia while serving as a member of the Europe East Area presidency and living in Bucharest, Romania while serving as President of the Romania Bucharest Mission—living for a total of 7½ years in countries of the former Soviet Union.

Joy Orton received her BA degree from the University of Utah.  She taught at Skyline High School.  She also worked as a graphics artist for Bailey, Montague and Associates.  She was a PTA president, and community council chairman.  She was also a director of foreign language study at an elementary school.  Joy has held several church leadership positions.

David & Kathryn Paxman

David Paxman devotes much of his time working as a volunteer for the Perpetual Education Fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint. In 2005, he and his wife, Kathryn, served a humanitarian mission for the LDS Church in Argentina. David served as associate dean of the College of Humanities at Brigham Young University. He taught English literature and writing at the University, with a special emphasis on British literature of the eighteenth century. He also taught at BYU Hawaii. He earned his bachelor’s in English at BYU and a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago. David was raised in Provo, Utah.

Kathryn Paxman is the daughter of Bill and Margaret Pope, longtime great supporters of the International Center for Law and Religion Studies. She and her husband, David, served a humanitarian mission in Argentina for the LDS Church; she also had the opportunity to serve as a volunteer in the LDS Perpetual Education Fund for three years.  Kathryn taught school for a few years, having received her bachelor’s degree at BYU in Special Education.  Kathryn had moved her family from California to Utah after her first husband had passed away to attend BYU. She loves children with special needs; her youngest child is a delightful Down syndrome girl. Kathryn loves being the mother of a large blended family of 10 children and 36 grandchildren

David Paxman devotes much of his time working as a volunteer for the Perpetual Education Fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint. In 2005, he and his wife, Kathryn, served a humanitarian mission for the LDS Church in Argentina. David served as associate dean of the College of Humanities at Brigham Young University. He taught English literature and writing at the University, with a special emphasis on British literature of the eighteenth century. He also taught at BYU Hawaii. Eric & Chanel Palmer

Eric W. Palmer is a specialist in interventional oncology and stroke. He practices Interventional Radiology, and is a former medical staff president, and a current vice president of his managing group. Eric completed a residency and Fellowship at Loma Linda University. He attended UVCC, University of Utah, and Tulane University. He served a mission in Recife, Brazil. Eric is married to his best friend, and loves his four wonderful children. He is from Riverside, California.

Chanel L. Palmer has transitioned to a full-time mother of four children. She is a former president of the medical auxiliary. She worked in customer service and marketing for Sundance Catalog. She attended UVCC, University of Utah, and BYU-Idaho. Chanel has enjoyed working with the youth in various church callings, but loves the seminary program and currently serves as a stake supervisor. Chanel is from Studio City, California.

Robert & MaryAnn Parsons

Robert E. Parsons is the Executive Vice President, Strategy and Business Development for Exclusive Resorts, the preeminent luxury travel destination club. He was also the chief financial officer of Host Marriott Corporation for several years. Robert has recently served as a member of the Board of Directors of Watermark Lodging Trust, a multi-billion-dollar real estate investment trust. He also served as chairman of the Hotel Development Council of the Urban Land Institute, Chair of the National BYU Management Society and Chair of the National Advisory Council of the Marriott School of Business at BYU. Robert received his MBA and bachelor’s in accounting from BYU.

MaryAnn has spent most of her life raising eight children and serving in a number of civic and community positions, including the National Advisory Council for the Marriott School of Management at BYU for the past 25 years, the Board of Directors of Rising Star (an organization helping and educating families with leprosy throughout the world), and the PTA for over 30 years. MaryAnn has participated frequently in community theater and in choral and vocal solo performances for many organizations. She attended BYU. MaryAnn lived most of her life in the Washington, DC area.

Terry & Sherry Peterson

Terry D. Peterson retired as a Senior Vice President/Portfolio Manager for Morgan Stanley after working over forty years in the financial industry. He married his high school sweetheart. Terry grew up in Orem and currently serves on the Orem City Council.

Sherry S. Peterson has served on the Executive Board of America’s Freedom Festival for over twenty years. She is active and involved in supporting constitutional freedoms and current affairs. Sherry and Terry have been married 46 years; they have 6 children and 21 grandchildren.

David & Mary Ann Pollei

David Pollei advises Hardwired, a non-profit organization that promotes freedom of conscience and religion. He also advises an online TV trade press publication. He has more than 30 years of experience in sourcing, evaluating, transacting, advising, and operating companies. David has served as Executive Director of Travel Study International, Chairman of the e-commerce company, Ominto, in Dubai, ABC’s Marketing Vice President, and President of Shopping by Satellite. He obtained degrees both in International Relations and French from Brigham Young University.

David and Mary Ann Blair Pollei were married  for 52 years.  They are the parents of five children and 13 grandchildren.  Mary Ann held a degree in Speech Pathology from Brigham Young University. She worked in the Intensive English Department at UC Davis, helping international students perfect their English skills. During this time, Mary Ann and David met tragedy as their youngest son, Michael, was left unable to care for himself following a near-drowning accident. Over a decade after Michael passed away at age 12, Mary Ann suffered a stroke, leaving her, like her son, unable to care for herself during the last decade of her life. Mary Ann died in August 2021.

In her words, read at her funeral by a grandson: “When you have a tragedy in your life and your life is stripped down to the bare essentials you see that most of that rushing and the things you thought were important don’t matter. What matters most is kindness. Life is simple: be kind. I have been the recipient of immense compassion since my stroke, not only from my family, but also from my ward members, my neighbors, and my friends. I cannot repay this kindness. This is a rare gift—a glimpse into heaven. I have been able to have a small understanding of the immensity of God’s infinite thoughtfulness and love for me.”

Margaret McConkie Pope

Margaret was born in Moab, Utah. She met her husband, Bill at the University of Utah. She was a supportive wife and mother during his assignments as an officer in World War ll, his college education, his employment at American Oil, and his career as a chemical engineering professor at Brigham Young University. Bill was one of the pioneers in adapting man-made diamonds for industrial use. His first company, Megadiamond, made it possible for oil & gas companies to use man-made diamonds to chew through rock without replacing drill bits. He was also the founder of US Synthetic. Bill passed away in 2010. Margaret was a religion professor at Brigham Young University. She and Bill have been tremendous ICLRS supporters throughout the years.

Bruce G. & Sara Robinson

Bruce and Sara Robinson both attended the University of Utah, and both majored in English. They are the parents of four daughters and one son. Bruce’s business Symphony Homes develops residential communities along the Wasatch Front in Utah.

Jeffrey Robinson is currently Vice President, Secretary, and Deputy General Counsel at First American Financial Corporation, a New York Stock Exchange listed company. He also serves on the board of directors of its primary title insurance subsidiary and holds various other director and officer positions with the First American family of companies. Ed Rowe is a partner at Picard Kentz and Rowe, LLP. He practices international arbitration and dispute resolution, public international law, and international trade and investment. Previously he was a partner at Dewey & LeBoeuf, LLP, and was a senior resident attorney in offices of U.S. law firms in Azerbaijan, Ethiopia, and Belgium. Ed received a BA from Brigham Young University, magna cum laude, and MA and JD degrees from the University of Chicago. Brooke is an elementary reading interventionist at American Heritage School. She received an MS in education as a K-12 reading specialist from National Louis University and a BS in elementary education from Brigham Young University. Duane & Marci Shaw

Duane Shaw is the principal owner and founder of Academy Mortgage Corporation, a national mortgage banking firm with its headquarters in Sandy, Utah. Duane created Academy Mortgage in 1988 and the company has grown to nearly 1,000 employees in 100 offices in 25 states. Duane is and has been involved with a number of other businesses, including land development, construction of homes, producing thoroughbred horses, an independent insurance agency and real estate investments.

Duane graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing from Utah State University in 1973 and has worked in the mortgage industry since that time. He began his career at Commercial Security Bank in Salt Lake City. After working for the bank for six years he worked for a savings and loan, a national mortgage banker and a small independent mortgage banker before starting Academy Mortgage. Duane is a member of the National Advisory Board of the Huntsman School of Business at Utah State University.

Duane is married to Marci (Sorensen) Shaw who attended Utah State University in 1972 and has served as the managing member of Dumar, LLC as well as other companies that Duane and Marci have been involved with. Marci has been actively involved in raising a family and serving in her church. Duane and Marci currently reside in Sandy, Utah.

 

 

Milt & Heidi Shipp

Milt and Heidi Shipp were recently released as Government Relations Representatives of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints stationed in Hong Kong. Milt is found and CEO of DAI, a real estate development company with projects along the Wasatch Front in Utah. He is also a partner in Candlelight Homes. Milt graduated from the University of Utah in Organizational Communications and then attended Brigham Young University’s Marriott School of Business. He is a member of the IAC Executive Committee.

Heidi Shipp has served on the Broadcast Leadership Council for BYUtv and on the Governor’s Council for People with Disabilities.  She received a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Utah.  Milt and Heidi have seven children and sixteen grandchildren.

Shellie Silliman

Shellie Silliman and her husband, Dick, grew up in Eastern Washington. They attended the same schools and graduated from high school one year apart. Shellie attended nursing school and graduated as an RN. Dick graduated from Washington State and accepted a job at Hoffman Construction Co. in Portland, Oregon. Dick worked for Hoffman for 46 years where he became partner in the company, overseeing estimation and many other responsibilities. He loved golf and people, especially his family. Dick passed away February 4, 2021, from Covid. Our family misses him greatly. Shellie and Dick were married for 47 years; they have 4 children and 18 grandchildren.

Greg & Sharon Slater

Greg Slater is the Vice President and Counsel to the President at Intel Corporation, a semiconductor chip maker. He also served as Director of Trade and Competition Policy, as Group General Counsel for Intel’s Corporate Services Division, and managed the legal aspects of Intel’s environmental, health and safety issues worldwide. He received his Bachelors of Science from Brigham Young University and his J.D. from J. Reuben Clark Law School.

Sharon Slater co-founded Family Watch International (FWI), a nonprofit organization in consultative status with the United Nations, and serves as its president. Sharon is the author of “Stand for the Family.” She was selected to represent American Mothers, Inc. as the 2007 Arizona Mother of the Year. Sharon received a bachelor’s degree in Family Sciences. She and Greg are the parents of seven children, four biological and three orphan siblings from Mozambique.

James & Cheryl Stanley

James is a managing director with Alvarez & Marsal, a global advisory firm specializing in restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, and general business advisory. James specializes in US corporate/partnership federal income tax, US international tax, and cross-border M&A tax. Formerly, he was a partner/principal with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Silicon Valley. Previous to that he was a managing director with KPMG in Silicon Valley and Washington, DC. Cheryl is a Certified Public Accountant and has worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers and KPMG. She graduated from BYU with a master’s degree in Tax Accountancy. Cheryl and Jim have four children.

Bryant & Nicole Stirling

Bryant & Nicole Stirling are partners in an IT consulting firm in Houston, which services oil and gas, chemical, and gold mining industries. Bryan has developed several pieces of custom software to help customers use historical data to improve business systems. Prior to the development of the IT consulting firm, he worked for years as a software engineer. He received an Executive MBA from the University of Utah.

Nicole Stirling is the Executive Director of the Stirling Foundation. She also serves as President of Process Wise. She had been an executive assistant to a member of the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and for twenty years assisted area presidencies during the Church’s General Conference.  Nicole worked for Elder Richard B. Wirthlin, General Authority and former strategist and pollster for Ronald Reagan, as an executive assistant, having worked for him in the research industry prior to her work for the Church. Nicole attended BYU. She and Bryant are the parents of three children.

David & Laurea Stirling

David Stirling is the President and CEO of doTERRA International. Previously, he served as chairman and CEO for a large international company. David’s earlier career includes a strong background in technology, overseeing global infrastructure engineering efforts for a billion-dollar multinational company. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a BS in Business, and earned a MBA from University of Utah.

Laurea Stirling has served on and headed numerous parent organizations, supporting the education systems where their children were involved. She has been very busy raising their nine children. Laurea graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Arts.

John & Hannah Smith

John is the Senior Vice President, Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel of Ryan, a global tax services and software provider, based in the Dallas office. John spent 12 years in Texas and Virginia at Raytheon Technologies, an American multinational aerospace and defense corporation. He also served as associate counsel to U.S. President George W. Bush and the lead lawyer for the White House Homeland Security Council staff. He began his legal career by clerking for Judge Samuel Alito, and then by practicing at the international law firm of Covington & Burling. John graduated with high honors from both Princeton University and Brigham Young University Law School.

Hannah clerked for Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel A. Alito, Jr. of the US Supreme Court. She also had a distinguished decade of service as Senior Counsel at Becket Law. She was a member of the legal teams that secured victories in key US Supreme Court religious liberty cases. During her time at Becket, she contributed to 25 Supreme Court briefs and represented more than 13 major faith groups. Hannah was an associate in private practice at national law firms in Washington DC. She received her JD from J. Reuben Clark Law School, where she received many awards, and her BA from Princeton University. She and her husband, John, are the parents of four children.

David & Rebecca Smith

David L. Smith is Managing Partner at Caproc Capital. He is a former Partner and co-founder of Veridicus Health (VRx), and President of Granite Alliance Insurance Company – both of which were acquired by Magellan Health. Recently, David and his wife, Rebecca, and their three children, returned from service as Mission Leaders of the New York, New York North Mission for the Church. A graduate of the University of Utah, David Eccles School of Business, David has served on various local and national professional boards.

Rebecca has spent the last 22 years raising her family, and being involved in community and church service. Rebecca has volunteered at the MTC, the Texas PTA, the Union Gospel Mission and homeless shelter in Texas, and the Battered Women Foundation of Fort Worth. Rebecca is currently a student at BYU finishing a degree in Family Studies.

Joel & Shannon Sybrowsky

Joel Sybrowsky works in commercial real estate investments, primarily branded hotels. He received his MBA and his undergraduate degree in Near Eastern Studies from BYU. Joel was born in Toronto, Canada, and grew up in Canada, England, and Provo.

Shannon Sybrowsky is active in her family and church. She graduated from BYU in Communications and Broadcast Journalism. Shannon grew up in Orem and Provo, and was born in Southern California. She and Joel are the parents of six wonderful children.

Roy & Tanya Syme

Roy is an anesthesiologist and has practiced in Durango, Colorado and Las Vegas, Nevada. He mentors pre-med and medical school students in anesthesiology and has been an adjunct professor at Touro University.

Tanya graduated from BYU with a degree in Recreation Management. She enjoyed working with youth in sports programming and is a supporter of high school and community theater. Roy and Tanya enjoy tennis, pickleball, and just about anything outside. They are the parents of two children.

Sondra Taylor

Sondra Taylor is a founder of the Great Falls Senior Center; she developed its programs and served on its Board until 2022. She was the owner and licensed administrator of an assisted living facility. Sondra participated in a joint venture in the 1990s with Russia’s “Intellect” Foundation. She also established “INTRES,” International Training & Education Services, with the focus on Spain and Russia. While her husband, Bob, was at Cornell University, she was employed by Cornell’s Dean’s Staff and as a guidance counselor for the school district. Sondra obtained her Master’s Degree from BYU in Counseling and Guidance. She is the mother of seven children. Sondra’s husband, Robert Joseph Taylor, passed away in 2019; he had received his PhD from Cornell University, and worked at John’s Hopkins and Lockheed at a physicist.

Wayne & Patrice Tew

Wayne is the president and CEO of Clark County Credit Union in Las Vegas, Nevada. He served as chairman of the Client Group Board for SUMMIT Information Systems, and is on the advisory board for American Share Insurance. Wayne earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Accounting from Brigham Young University and is a CPA. Patrice is president of American Mothers, Inc. Nevada Association, and is a child and family advocate at the United Nations.  She graduated from BYU’s Honors Program as a University Scholar High Honors with Distinction, and as Valedictorian. She also graduated with a J.D. from the J. Reuben Clark Law School. Patrice practiced part-time for four years and then retired in order to devote her energies to raising their children. Patrice and Wayne are the parents of four children.

Thomas & Leslie Thomas

Tom is the Managing Partner of the Thomas & Mack Co., an investment management and commercial real estate development company, and has managed the company since 1992. The company owns and operates over 4 million sq. ft. of office and light industrial properties in Las Vegas as well as commercial and residential real estate developments in California, Arizona, and Utah. The Company represents a 60-year, four generation partnership between the Thomas and Mack families. Tom holds a J.D. from the University of Utah College of Law and a B.A. in Finance from the University of Utah. He is also a graduate of the National Graduate Trust School. Tom currently serves on many boards and councils.

Leslie and her husband, Tom, are co-chairs of the BYU Broadcasting Leadership Council. She is currently a teacher of morning seminary. Leslie received her law degree from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at BYU, and graduated in International Relations from the same university. She served a mission in the Canada Halifax mission. Leslie and Tom have five children and three grandchildren.

Lonny & Lori Townsend

Lonny recently returned from serving as Mission President of the Arizona Mesa Mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Prior to that, he served as Area Legal Counsel for the Church in South America. Lonny retired as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Magellan Midstream Partners. He is a graduate of the BYU Law School and a former law clerk for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit

Lori served with her husband in leading the Arizona Mesa Mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She received her bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University in 1985. Lori and Lonny are the parents of five children.

Bryce & Peggy Wade

Bryce Wade is an investor in new business ventures. He served as counsel for various commercial enterprises specializing in real estate development, automobile dealerships and investment banking. He also worked for years as a prosecutor for Salt Lake City. Bryce and Peggy Wade served as missionaries for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Utah Salt Lake City East Mission. Bryce graduated from the University of Utah School of Law.

Peggy Wade served as a Judge of the Salt Lake County Justice Court for thirty years.  She has served as an Adjunct Professor in the Master’s Ethics Seminar Class at the University of Utah. Peggy has a BA, MA, and Graduate Certificate from the University of Utah in Political Science, Public Administration, and Public Ethics. She and Bryce are the parents of ten children.

Stephen & Marcia Wade

Stephen Wade serves as the President of Stephen Wade Auto Center, St. George, Utah. He also serves on the association’s Dealership Operations Committee. He has owned more than 20 franchises throughout Utah and has served on numerous automotive factory committees, boards and associations. Stephen presently serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Dixie State College and is founder of Sun Trust Bank of St. George.

Marcia Wade has served on and chaired several boards and foundations in St. George, and has had considerable involvement with Dixie College. She received a bachelor’s degree in Education from Brigham Young University. She enjoyed teaching school, and then chose to stay home to raise their five children. Marcia was born in Richfield, Utah.

Blake & Leslie Walker

Blake Walker is a co-founder and Chief Investment Officer of Grandeur Peak Global Advisors, an investment firm focused on global equities. He was also a partner at Wasatch Advisors and a portfolio manager. Blake received a BS in Accounting from Brigham Young University. He is originally from Toronto, Canada.

Leslie Walker, a neonatal nurse by trade, focuses her time on rearing her children. She and Blake are the parents of four children.

Bruce & Linda Wardle

John Bruce Wardle — During his 35-year career, Bruce owned Association Management Group, Inc. (AMG), a respected professional services firm engaged in the delivery of nonprofit management, government relations, public affairs, and meeting and event management services. His work and experience resulted in the ability to offer trusted management, political, and public policy advice to clients. Bruce retired as Chairman of Interel US in 2019 to deliver special projects as a Senior Advisor. The Wardles served as Public Affairs/Church Communications missionaries in the Europe Area, and managed diplomatic and government outreach in London. Bruce continuously monitors political developments and key service needs related to clients. Bruce attended BYU and the University of Utah, graduating in Political Science.

Linda Christensen Wardle — Before serving as a Church Communication missionary in London, UK, Linda was a real estate professional, licensed in Virginia. During her thirty-plus years as a realtor serving numerous buyers and sellers, she became an Accredited Staging Professional (ASP); Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR); Senior Real Estate Specialist (SRES); and has a Certification in Negotiation. As a Real Estate professional, Linda helped clients achieve their property goals and dreams. Linda graduated from BYU with a degree in Fashion Merchandising, Clothing and Textiles and taught classes at ZCMI and BYU. She also had her own custom tailoring and dressmaking business while raising their children. Linda and Bruce have five children and 14 grandchildren.

Lance & Patricia Wickman

Elder Lance B. Wickman is an emeritus general authority of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and is the current general counsel of the Church. He was born in Seattle, Washington and raised in New Jersey and Glendale, California. After his missionary service in the Central British Mission, he married Patricia Farr in the Los Angeles California Temple. Elder Wickman graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a bachelor’s degree in political science. In 1966, as a U.S. Army Ranger, he was sent to fight in Vietnam as a platoon leader in the United States Army and on a second tour of duty as a military advisor to the Army of the Republic of Vietnam. Gerald and Claudia Williams

Gerry and Claudia Williams recently completed service as United Nations Government Relations Representatives in Geneva, Switzerland, for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Mark H. Mark A. Wolfert is the Executive Vice President and General Counsel of doTERRA International.  He served as mission president for the Georgia Atlanta North Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 2011 to 2014. Kenneth & Athelia Woolley

Kenneth M. Woolley, an entrepreneur, has helped launch over forty companies, many in England.  Most of his enterprises involve real estate; others include high tech, food, and airlines. Currently, he is the Executive Chairman of Extra Space Storage, Inc.  He also has property companies in Las Vegas and New York.  Ken helped found and is active in More Good Foundation, and has served for many years on the board of American Indian Services.  He recently returned from serving as president of the Moscow Russia West Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Timothy E. & Teresa D. Wright

Tim Wright has been a commercial valuation expert for many years. He is also founding partnet of Crescendo Properties, a self-storage investment company, and Quick Quack, an express car wash company. He currently serves as President of Quick Quack Car Wash. Tim is also a member of the Tabernacle Choir. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations.

Teresa Wright has had the blessing of being a stay-at-home mother. She met her husband, Tim, while attending BYU. She has served in many Church leadership capacities. Teresa grew up in Seattle, Washington. She and Tim are the parents of four children and seven grandchildren.

Bruce G. & Marie Kartchner Hafen

Bruce Hafen is a nationally recognized scholar on family relationships, children, and education. He earned a juris doctorate from the University of Utah. Bruce is also a former dean of Brigham Young University’s J. Reuben Clark Law School, which he helped to establish. He is the former president of Ricks College, and provost at Brigham Young University. Bruce served in the First Quorum of the Seventy for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints until October of 2010.

Marie Kartchner Hafen is a mother, writer, editor, and instructor. She has taught religion, literature, and writing at Brigham Young University-Idaho and Brigham Young University-Provo. Marie received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Brigham Young University in English, and was raised in Bountiful, Utah. Marie and her husband, Bruce, are the parents of seven children and ten grandchildren (one deceased).

Ralph & Carole Hardy

Ralph Hardy received a B.S. (honors) at the University of Utah and a J.D. from Boalt Hall School of Law, University of California, Berkeley. He is admitted to the practice of law in California and the District of Columbia. He joined the law firm Dow Lohnes in Washington, D.C., in 1968 and became a Member in 1974. His principal areas of concentration are in structuring, negotiating and financing media, high technology, and energy-related and other complex transactions. Mr. Hardy is involved with Dow Lohnes Government Strategies LLC in its government relations activities with Congress and the Executive Departments of the Federal Government. He served as National Chairman of the J. Reuben Clark Law Society from 1987-1993, and is a past-chair of the International Advisory Council of the International Center of Law and Religion Studies.

Carole Hardy and her husband, Ralph, have four children and twelve grandchildren, and reside in Potomac, Maryland.

Richard & Nancy Marriott

Richard Marriott runs Host Hotels & Resorts, the world’s largest hotel-focused real estate investment trust. It was spun off in 1993 from the larger family-run Marriott International, founded by his father J.W. “Bill” Marriott in 1957. Richard received a Master of Business Administration from Harvard University, and a Bachelor of Arts/Science from the University of Utah.

Nancy Marriott is the President of the Nancy Peery Marriott Foundation and is active among several national public-service organizations. She is an accomplished lyric soprano, having performed throughout the United States. Nancy and Richard are the parents of four children.

Bill & Donna Marriott

Bill Marriott is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Marriott International, Inc. He attended St. Albans School in Washington, D.C. and earned a BS degree in banking and finance from the University of Utah. He also served as an officer in the United States Navy.

Donna Marriott and her husband, Bill, have been married for over fifty years. They have four children, fifteen grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Dennis & Joni Kay Neuenschwander

IAC EmeritDennis B. Neuenschwander is an Emeritus General Authority of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as as area president in the Europe and Europe East Areas, accompanied by his wife, Joni, who was assigned to Church History. The Neuenschwanders also served eight months in Istanbul, preparing for the arrival of the first group of LDS missionaries.

Elder Neuenschwander served as an LDS Church missionary in Finland and earned degrees from Weber State University and Brigham Young University, and a Ph.D. in eastern European languages from Syracuse University. He taught Russian language classes at BYU and the University of Utah, and later was hired by the LDS Church’s genealogical department, where he was involved in microfilming and translating genealogical records from eastern Europe. In 1987, he was appointed president of the church’s Austria Vienna East Mission, which at the time included Poland, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Yugoslavia, Greece, Egypt, Turkey, and Cyprus. In the early 1990s, he was asked to assist the church in expanding missionary work into Bulgaria, Romania, and parts of the USSR.

In 1991, Elder Neuenschwander was called as a general authority of the church and member of the Second Quorum of Seventy. In 1994, he was transferred to the First Quorum of Seventy. From 2000 to 2004, he was a member of the Presidency of Seventy, and he has served in the area presidency of a number of areas of the church, including eastern Europe. He was designated as an emeritus general authority during the church’s October 2009 general conference.

Elder Neuenschwander and his wife of 44 years, LeAnn Clement, had four sons. She died of cancer. Elder Neuenschwander married Joni Kay Lee in 2008.

David & Georgia Owens

David Owens graduated from Stanford University in 1962 with an AB in Economics and from Harvard Law School in 1965.  He is married to the former Georgia Garff, and they have six children and 16 grandchildren. David served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in North German/Berlin in 1959-1962. He practiced heirship law for 20 years in California. David and Georgia now live in Salt Lake City.

Amanda graduated from Northern Arizona University with a B.S. in Secondary English Education. Before entering law school, Amanda worked as a middle school math teacher. During her externship in Guatemala City, she worked on assignments involving visa, custom, property, and various other laws. She also survived climbing an active volcano in the dark of night, and enjoys telling the harrowing tale. Amanda is currently working on the Religious Organizations and the Law treatise for the Center with a focus on the education sections.
