Phan Anh Son
President, The Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations, Vietnam
Phan Anh Son is president of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO). He also served as vice president-secretary general of VUFO, vice chairman of the Committee for Foreign Nongovernmental Organizations Affairs, and director general of the People’s Aid Coordinating Committee. Before joining VUFO, Mr. Phan was with the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations as director general of the Department for International Cooperation, secretary general of the Vietnam ASEAN Engineering Register Council, and coordinator for Cooperation Programs with National Assembly agencies. In addition, his international work included working at the US embassy in Hanoi. Mr. Phan holds a PhD in international relations from the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, a master’s degree in economics and public management from Universté Libre de Bruxelle, a master’s degree in applied linguistics from La Trobe University, and a bachelor’s degree in English from Hanoi Open University. He has hosted and attended many international and domestic academic conferences. He is strongly committed to contributing to Vietnam’s socioeconomic development and strengthening friendship and cooperation between the people of Vietnam and other countries.
