Marcos David Peckel, CEO, Confederation of Jewish Communities of Colombia
Marcos David Peckel, a native of Bogotá and a dedicated family man, pursued undergraduate studies at the Israel Institute of Technology and earned a master’s degree from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. A multilingual professional proficient in Spanish, English, and Hebrew, he has established himself as a prominent figure in the fields of international relations and diplomacy. Peckel is lecturer in international relations at the Universidad de Rosario and the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Colombia, and he also writes columns on foreign affairs for two prominent Colombian newspapers. He is executive director of the Colombian Jewish Community Umbrella Organization, where he plays a pivotal role in fostering community unity and addressing key issues. Peckel also serves on the advisory board on religious matters in the Ministry of Interior of Colombia, as a commissioner for the Latin American Jewish Congress, as a member of the executive committee for the World Jewish congress, and as an advisor to the Organization of American States (OAS) Special Envoy, fighting anti-Semitism and discrimination. He is a recipient of the prestigious Order of San Carlos Award given by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Colombia.
