The Center mourns the passing of long-time friend and supporter, Angus H. Belliston on November 2, 2018.
Born April 17, 1932, in Nephi, Utah, Angus was the son of Elsie Maughan Belliston and Albert Henry Belliston.
Angus grew up in Nephi, with the exception of two years in Hawaii, while his father served as president of the Hawaii Temple. He married Marcelle Greenhalgh in the Salt Lake Temple, September 5, 1951. They are the parents of seven children. Angus graduated from the University of Utah, and enjoyed a long and successful banking career, primarily with Zions Bank, enjoying rewarding associations with many fine people. The family lived in Bountiful and Salina, before settling in Provo in 1971. After 40 years of marriage, Marcelle died in March 1991. Following her death, Angus married Ruth Eleanor “Jenny” Jones Frederick on December 27, 1991, in the Salt Lake Temple. She died in April 2011. He married Christi Allen Wells on September 27, 2014 in the Provo Temple.
A devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Angus served tirelessly in many capacities including bishop, stake president, regional representative, and temple sealer. He was also deeply involved with the Scouting program. With his wife, Jenny, he served as president of the Brisbane Australia Mission from 1995 to 1998. They also served in the Provo and Nauvoo Temple presidencies. Angus held many civic positions, and served as National President of Sons of Utah Pioneers.
Angus has been an influence for good in countless lives and made friends wherever he went. He was a kind, caring, and wise husband, father, and grandfather. He will be remembered for his unfailing good humor, his humility, and his generosity. He stood for the right in all places, at all times. He has fought a good fight, he has finished the course, he has kept the faith.
Angus is survived by his wife Christi, and his seven children, Camille Dowler, Anne (Wes) Curtis, Janine (Eric) Ruff, James (Robin), Carl (Michelle), Kathryn (Michel) Bened, Nathan (Aimee).
