Daniel Lyman was born and raised in Orlando, Florida. He served a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Cape Coast, Ghana. He graduated from Brigham Young University – Idaho with a degree in Accounting. Following graduation, he worked as an auditor for three years with a large accounting firm in Stamford, Connecticut. While he enjoyed his accounting experience, he wanted to shift to a career that would allow him to be more actively involved in helping organizations accomplish their goals, rather than evaluating compliance with accounting rules after the fact. In addition, he has two young daughters, and planning for their future made him more sensitive to the importance of making sure policies being enacted now will give them a safe and healthy environment to learn and grow in. He sees a career in law as being the perfect balance between these two goals. There are opportunities for him to still be involved in helping businesses and other organizations. At the same time, in law school he is developing a better understanding of the Constitution and legal reasoning, which he believes will help enable him to become more effectively involved in influencing his community for the better.
