Global Engagement Specialist (Volunteer)
Dr. Boyd Bauer is a Global Engagement Specialist, an independent consultant specializing in international education and business development. Throughout his professional life he has worked, taught, lectured, and traveled in numerous countries. He is an innovative thinker dedicated to building bridges of understanding between individuals and diverse groups in the United States as well as other locations around the world. He has been a keynote speaker for economic conferences and community organizations, speaking on a wide range of topics including but not limited to understanding the American healthcare puzzle, strategic planning, and motivational topics.
Early his career Dr. Bauer was for 11 years (1986-1997) Regional Vice President—Inland of the Hospital Council of Southern California/HASC, where he assisted 42 hospital leaders in problem solving in order to provide effective healthcare to local communities. He represented the healthcare industry to county, state, and federal governmental agencies, media outlets, and to the public. During this time he erved on emergency medical planning bodies, regional disaster medical assistance team, and community boards. He taught part-time at California State University San Bernardino, and guest lectured for numrous public and private organizations.
From 2000-2007 Dr. Bauer was Director of the International Center at Utah Valley State College, and from 2008-2010 was Director of Global Engagement, Woodbury School of Business, Utah Valley University. Since retiring from his position at Utah Valley University he has continued his active life with both volunteer service and private consulting. He tracks legal issues focusing on tensions between religious freedom and the law as a volunteer in support of associates at the J. Rueben Clark School of Law of Brigham Young University, in Provo, Utah.
