Annual International Law and Religion Symposium, Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah, and Catholic University and George Washington University, Washington, D.C., October 2001. This conference attracted 49 world leaders from 28 countries to discuss issues of religious liberty.
Russia Law and Religion Conference, in Moscow, Russia, June 2001. The Center played a central role in a conference co-sponsored by the elite Russian Academy of State Service. The conference attracted key national and regional government leaders with responsibility for religious policy. As a result of this conference, the Center was invited to participate in upcoming conferences in Russia: (1) to focus on the last ten years of Russian legislation affecting freedom of religion, and (2) to train lawyers throughout Russia who represent religious organizations.
Ukraine Religious Freedom Conference, May 2001. The Center was invited to work with the Ukrainian Department of Religious Affairs and the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences to co-sponsor a conference on religion in education and the media. The conference brought together national and regional church-state policy makers and media representatives.
