Elder Wickman is an Emeritus member of the First Quorum of the Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and is currently the general counsel of the Church. He practiced law in Los Angeles and San Diego with the law firm Latham & Watkins. Elder Wickman graduated from Stanford Law School, and from the University of California, Berkeley with a bachelor’s degree in political science. He served in the United States Army as a captain during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the Valorous Unit Award, and the Combat Infantryman Badge. Elder Wickman was born in Seattle, Washington.

Patricia graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a degree in history. She was born in Berkeley, California. Patricia and Elder Wickman are the parents of five children.
