Anguilla is a British overseas territory in the Caribbean. Although taken in 2001, the last census in Anguilla lists Christianity as the country’s largest religion. Protestant groups largely outnumber other denominations and, in fact, account for 83% of the population. This strong Christian tradition did not always exist on the island. With European colonization, however, and with African migration to the island, the Christian tradition in Anguilla grew under the influence of missionaries and converts who had found Christianity before settling in Anguilla.
Jews, Hindus, Muslims, and Rastafarians make up most of the minority denominations on the island.
