David & Julie Colton

Dave and his wife, Julie, recently returned from serving as the Directors of the Washington, D.C. Temple Visitors Center. Dave served as Chair of the IAC from April 2018 through January 2023. He was also a student coach at the Law School. He and Julie served as LDS Government Relations missionaries assigned to the United Nations in New York. David worked as the LDS Europe Area Legal Counsel. He retired as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Freeport-McMoran Copper & Gold Company, (formerly Phelps Dodge). David was a partner at Van Cott, Bagley, Cornwall & McCarthy. He received his J.D. from BYU’s J. Reuben Clark Law School and his bachelor’s degree from BYU. He has been actively supporting the Center since its formation.

Julie and David recently returned from serving as Directors of the Washington, DC Temple Visitors Center. They also served as LDS Government Relations Missionaries assigned to the United Nations. They created and funded the S. David and Julie Colton Endowed Fund for the ICLRS to support the Center’s activities and programs in Europe. Julie graduated from Brigham Young University. She and David are the parents of nine married children and currently have thirty-three grandchildren.
