Director of Interfaith Relations, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, United States
Jonathan Ammons serves as director of interfaith relations for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In addition to his work for the Church, he currently serves as president of the NGO Committee on Freedom of Religion or Belief (FoRB), an association of civil society leaders engaged in promoting FoRB within the United Nations. He also serves on the national board of governors of the Religion Communicators Council and is a Stephen M. Kellen Term Member of the Council on Foreign Relations. He is the recipient of a number of fellowships and awards, including the Oxford Young Scholars Fellowship in Religion and the Rule of Law, the Handa Fellowship in Interreligious Communication, the Interfaith Center of New York’s Interfaith Civic Leadership Fellowship, and the DeRose-Hinkhouse Award for Excellence in Religious Communications and Public Relations. Mr. Ammons holds a bachelor’s degree in
humanities from Brigham Young University and a master’s degree in government and democracy studies from Johns Hopkins University. He and his wife, Brianne, have four wonderful children and enjoy hiking, camping, and other outdoor activities with their family.
