Maria Filomena Singh earned her juris doctor from Ateneo de Manila University and a master of laws from American University in Washington, DC. She practiced law for ten years before joining the judiciary, serving in the Metropolitan Trial Court, Regional Trial Court, and Court of Appeals before she was appointed to the Supreme Court. Justice Singh has a strong leadership background in judicial reform, legal education, and gender responsiveness. As a lecturer and published author, she has received numerous accolades, including serving as a director for the Asia Pacific region of the International Association of Women Judges.
