José Ignacio Cuevas de la Garza, Advisor, National Council to Prevent Discrimination

José Ignacio Cuevas de la Garza holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from the College of Political and Social Sciences at National Autonomous University of Mexico and another bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from the Universidad Iberoamericana. Currently, he is pursuing a master’s degree in Mexican history at the Instituto Cultural Helénico. He has also completed a diploma in art history from the same institution. Cuevas is a lecturer at the Universidad Iberoamericana, teaching courses in gender and inclusion, as well as aesthetic experience and human development. Additionally, he teaches history of religions and history of peace paradigms at the Universidad del Claustro de Sor Juana and art and music at the Jesús Reyes Heroles Cultural Center in Coyoacán. Cuevas is an advisor to the National Council for the Prevention of Discrimination in Religious Matters. Prior to this, he was an advisor on religious affairs for the Ministry of the Interior. He also held the role of coordinator of the Church Area at the National Center for Social Communication and was a member of both the Ecclesiastical Observatory for the analysis of religious and political situations and Churches for Peace, where he engaged in activism for victims and peace processes.
