Mussie Hailu Gebretsadik, Ambassador, Regional Director and Representative to the Africa Union, United Religions Initiative for Africa
Mussie Hailu Gebretsadik is an ambassador working to promote peace, reconciliation, interfaith and intercultural harmony, human dignity, mutual respect, constructive dialogue, and environmental protection. He works to build bridges for international cooperation for the common good of all nations, as well as to address the negative impact on peace and security that come from the proliferation of small arms and light weapons. Gebretsadik is tireless in promoting the Golden Rule—“Treat others the way you want to be treated”—as a guiding principle to counter violent extremism and hate speech, promote peaceful coexistence, and uphold the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Gebretsadik is a founding member of United Religions Initiative (URI), and he currently serves as its regional director for Africa. He acts as a representative of URI at the African Union and at the United Nations office in Africa. He has served many organizations at national, regional, and international levels and has also served as an ambassador-at-large and special envoy of the president of Burundi.
