Professor Brett Scharffs of the BYU Centre for Law and Religion has addressed the CRL Commission’s 4th National Consultative Conference held in Pretoria South Africa 25 February 2019.
The Conference, which is held every five years, will chart the course for the next five-year term of The Commission for the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Cultural, Religious and Linguistic Communities (CRL Rights Commission).
The CRL Right Commission is currently grappling with bringing order in the religious sector, which is confronted by a rising tide of abuses of congregants by illicit pastors and mushroom Churches in the name of religion.
As a special contributor to the Conference, Professor Scharffs presided over a conference commission that was tasked with discussing: “Possibilities of and challenges to protecting both religious freedom and human dignity”.
